Title: Red Velvet Cake

2 | oz | Red food coloring |
3 | tb | Cocoa powder |
1/2 | c | Crisco |
1 1/2 | c | Sugar |
2 | Eggs | |
1 | ts | Salt |
1 | c | Buttermilk |
2 1/4 | c | Flour |
1 1/2 | ts | Baking soda |
2 | tb | Vinegar |
Preheat oven 350 degrees. Prepare 2 9 inch round pans Combine food coloring and cocoa. Set aside. Blend together crisco , sugar and eggs. Add salt to milk and add alternately to sugar mixture with flour. Add cocoa. Dissolve soda into vinegar and fold into batter. Do not over mix. Pour into prepared pans and bake for 35-40 minutes. Cool 5 minutes in pans and remove.
NOTES : Suggested frostings are boiled icing, seafoam icing or Crisco icing. Posted to MM-Recipes Digest V4 #6
