Title: Quick Saucy Hamburgers - Sl 3/82

Yield: 6 Servings
1 1/2 | lb | Ground beef |
2 | tb | Dry onion soup mix |
1/4 | ts | Salt |
1/8 | ts | Pepper |
2 | tb | All-purpose flour |
1 | tb | Vegetable oil |
1 | tb | Onion; chopped |
1 | tb | Green pepper; chopped |
1 | cl | Garlic; minced |
8 | oz | Can tomato sauce |
1/4 | c | Catsup |
1 | ts | Worcestershire sauce |
1 | ds | Hot sauce |
1 | Bay leaf | |
1/2 | ts | Chili powder |
6 | Hamburger buns; split and toasted |
: Combine first 4 ingredients; and shape into 6 balls; roll in flour, and flatten slightly. Heat oil in a large skillet; add patties, and brown on both sides. Remove hamburger patties, and set aside; drain off pan drippings, reserving 1 tablespoon in skillet. : Add onion, green pepper, and garlic to pan drippings; cook until tender. Stir in next 6 ingredients. Add patties; cover and simmer 15 minutes. Turn patties; cover and continue to cook 10 minutes. Remove bay leaf; serve patties with buns [and favorite condiments and accessories, of course]. Yield: 6 sandwiches.
