Title: Frosted Applesauce Cake

2cFlour
1tsCloves
1tsCinammon
1tsNutmeg
1/2tsSalt
2tsBaking soda
1 1/2cUnsweetened applesauce
1/2cButter
1cBrown sugar; packed
1cRaisins
1/2cPecans or walnuts; chopped
  Glaze; (recipe follows)

Preheat oven to 350 F. Grease a 9x5-inch loaf pan and set aside.

In large mixing bowl, combine flour, spices, salt and baking soda and mix well. Set aside.

In heavy saucepan, heat applesauce, butter, sugar and raisins on medium-low just until mixture comes to a boil.

Pour hot applesauce mixture into dry ingredients and mix just until incorporated. Mix in chopped nuts.

Spoon batter into prepared pan and bake for 50 to 60 minutes. When a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean, cake is done. (Do not over-bake.) Cool on wire rack, then spoon glaze over cake. Makes 8 to 10 servings.

Glaze: Melt 1 1/2 tablespoons butter in a small saucepan. Add 2 tablespoons hot milk, 1 cup confectioners' sugar and 1/4 teaspoon vanilla. Mix well.
