1 | Onion; Large, Finely Chopped | |
1 | tb | Ground Red Chiles |
1/4 | ts | Ground Red Pepper |
1 | Ancho Chile; * | |
1 | tb | Vegetable Oil |
1 | c | Orange Juice |
1/2 | c | Lime Juice |
2 | tb | Sugar |
2 | tb | Lemon Juice |
1 | tb | Fresh Cilantro; Snipped |
1 | ts | Salt |
* Ancho chile should be seeded and finely chopped. Cook onion, ground red chiles, red pepper and ancho chile in oil, stirring frequently, until onion is tender, about 5 minutes. Stir in remaining ingredients. Heat to boiling, reduce heat to low. Simmer uncovered, about 10 minutes, stirring occasionally.
Makes about 2 1/3 cups of sauce.
