2 | pk | 3oz cherry gelatin |
2 | c | Hot water |
1 | c | Cold water |
2 | ts | Lemon juice |
2 | tb | Sherry |
1 | c | Sour cream |
2 | c | BING cherries,pitted,halved |
1/4 | c | Chopped toasted almonds |
Dissolve gelatin in hot water; add cold water and lemon juice.
To one cup gelatin mixture add the Sherry; pour Sherry gelatin into a two quart mold. Chill until set.
Chill remaining gelatin until partially set; whip until fluffy. Fold in sour cream, cherries and almonds; pour over firm Sherry gelatin mixture. Chill for several hours or overnight.
Unmold onto chilled platter.
Serve with mixture of one half sour cream and one half mayonnaise if desired.
