1 | | Oblong loaf of rye bread |
2 | | Garlic cloves, crushed |
1 | tb | Chopped parsley |
1 | tb | Chopped marjoram |
2 | ts | Chopped sage |
1 | ts | Finely chopped thyme leaves |
250 | g | Butter or veg margarine |
Using a sharp knife, slice the bread thinly, almost to the bottom crust.
Soften the butter and mash the garlic and herbs into it, and spreaqd it
generously onto both sides of each bread slice. Wrap the loaf loosely in
metal foil and put in an oven-proof dish in a hot oven (230C/450F/Gas 8)
for 10 to 15 minutes, until the bread is crisp. Serve hot.
