2cChicken stock
2cWater
1smGarlic clove
1cQuick-cooking hominy grits; not instant
1cGrated cheddar cheese
  Salt; to taste

Place chicken stock and water in a medium saucepan over high heat. Bring to a boil. Stir in garlic and grits. Reduce heat and simmer, stirring frequently, for about 10 to 15 minutes or until thickened. Remove from heat and stir in cheese until completely melted. Season to taste with salt and keep warm.
