Title: Charmin' Cherry Bars

1 | c | Pillsbury's best all-purpose flour*, sifted |
1/4 | c | Confectioners' sugar |
1/2 | c | Butter |
1/4 | c | Pillsbury's best all-purpose flour* |
3/4 | c | Sugar |
1/2 | ts | Double-acting baking powder |
1/4 | ts | Salt |
2 | Eggs; slightly beaten | |
1/2 | c | Maraschino cherries; finely cut |
1/2 | c | Coconut |
1/2 | c | Funsten's walnuts; chopped |
BAKE at 350 degrees for 10 minutes, then for 30 to 40 minutes. MAKES 3 dozen. Sift together the 1 cup flour with the confectioners' sugar. Cut n butter until mixture resembles coarse crumbs. Press mixture firmly into ungreased 11 x 7 or 9 x 9 inch pan. Bake in moderate oven (350 degrees) 10 minutes. Sift together into mixing bowl 1/4 cup flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt. Add eggs. Stir in maraschino cherries, coconut, and walnuts. Spread over partially-baked mixture. Bake in moderate oven (350 degrees) 30 to 40 minutes. Cool; cut into bars. *For use with Pillsbury's Best Self-Rising Flour, omit baking powder and salt.
