Title: Kiwi Pear Chutney

Yield: 1 Servings
1 1/2 | c | Brown sugar, packed |
1 1/2 | c | Cider vinegar |
1 | c | Chopped onion |
1 | Lime, thinly sliced | |
4 | lg | Cloves garlic, chopped |
1 1/2 | ts | Cinnamon |
1/2 | ts | Cloves |
1/2 | ts | Allspice |
1/4 | ts | Crushed red chile pepper |
2 | tb | Minced preserved ginger |
1 | c | Raisins |
1/2 | c | Chopped walnuts |
4 | c | Kiwifruit, peeled and chopped |
4 | c | Pears, peeled and chopped |
Mix first 12 ingredients in a large heavy saucepan. Bring to a boil and simmer, uncovered, stirring frequently, for 30 minutes. Ladle into hot, sterilized half-pint jars and seal. Process in a boiling water bath for 15 mins. Cools and store in refrigerator after opening. Makes about 6 jars. NOTES : One of my coworkers has a large kiwi farm in northern San Diego county, and for several months in late fall and early winter, I am under extreme duress to come up with recipes using the furry little critters.
