Title: Consumer Report's Homemade Spaghetti Sauce

2tbOlive oil
2lgGarlic cloves; minced
1/2cOnion; chopped
1tsDried basil
1tsDried parsley flakes
1/2tsBlack pepper
1/2tsDried oregano
1tsSalt
1cn28-oz. crushed tomatoes
1cn28-oz. tomato puree

Heat olive oil over med-low heat in a 3-qt. saucepan. Add garlic. Stir and cook until golden brown. Add onion and cook until soft and golden, stirring frequently. Add seasonings and tomato products. Bring to a boil at med-high, then reduce to low, cover loosely, and simmer 30 mins., stirring occasionally.

For meat sauce - add 1/2 to 1 pound freshly browned ground beef or sausage when you add the tomato products.
