Title: American Split Pea Soup

	8 c	water -- cold
	1 e	a ham bones
	2 c	split peas
	1 e	a chopped onion -- medium
	1 e	a carrot -- chopped
	1 t	s salt
1	/2 t	s pepper

Bring water and ham bone to a boil. Add remaining ingredients and simmer.
