1 | ts | Chopped fresh or 1/4 ts Dried sage leaves |
1 | ts | Salt |
1/2 | ts | Dry mustard |
1/4 | ts | Pepper |
3 | sl | Bread, torn to small pieces* |
1 | | Egg |
1 | | Cl Garlic, finely chopped, or 1/8 ts Garlic powder |
1 | sm | Onion, chopped (1/4 cup) |
1 | tb | Worcestershire sauce |
1 | sm | Green bell pepper, chopped |
1 | md | Carrot, coarsely shredded |
1 | cn | (4 ounces) mushroom stems and Pieces, drained and chopped |
1 | | Tomato, thinly sliced |
3 | sl | Processed american cheese |
Heat oven to 350 degrees. Mix all ingredients except tomato and cheese.
Spread mixture in loaf pan, 9 X 5 X 3 inches. Bake 1 to 1-1/4 hours or
until done; drain. Arrange tomato down center of meat loaf. Top with cheese
slices cut diagonally in half. Bake 3 to 5 minutes or until cheese is
melted. Remove from pan. 6 SERVINGS; 375 CALORIES PER SERVING.*1/2 cup
dry bread crumbs or 3/4 cup quick-cooking oats can be substituted for the 3
slices bread.
