Sour cream, brown sugar and butter make these cookies absolutely divine. They're easily made, too, because they're drop cookies.
Sift together flour, baking soda and cream of tartar; set aside.
Cream together butter, sugar and brown sugar in bowl until light and fluffy, using electric mixer at medium speed. Add eggs, one at a time, beating well after each addition.
Add dry ingredients alternately with sour cream to creamed mixture, beating well after each addition, using electric mixer at low speed. Drop mixture by rounded teaspoonfuls, about 3" apart, on greased baking sheets.
Bake in 350 degree oven 8 to 10 minutes, or until edges are browned. Remove from baking sheets; cool on racks. Prepare Vanilla Frosting. Frost cookies with Vanilla Frosting. Makes 7 dozen.
VANILLA FROSTING: Combine 4 cups sifted confectioners' sugar, 1 tsp. vanilla and 4 tbsp. milk in bowl. Beat until smooth, using a spoon. Add 1 more tbsp. milk, if necessary, to make frosting of spreading consistency.
