2 1/2 | c | Water |
18 | oz | Tomato paste |
12 | oz | Molasses |
1 1/2 | c | Dark corn syrup |
3/4 | c | White vinegar |
3/4 | c | Honey |
2 | tb | Paprika |
2 | tb | Whiskey |
2 | tb | Worcestershire sauce |
1 | tb | Liquid smoke |
1 | tb | Hot pepper sauce |
1 | ts | Garlic powder |
1 | ts | Chili powder |
1 | ts | Onion powder |
1 | ts | Ground red pepper; or to tas |
2 | | Bay leaves |
In a 4-quart dutch oven, combine all ingredients. If necessary, use a wire
whisk to mix well. Bring to boiling. Reduce heat and simmer, uncovered,
over medium-low heat for 30 minutes, stirring occasionally. Remove bay
leaves. Store in the refrigerator for up to two weeks. Makes 8 cups. Penny
