1 | c | Onion, chopped fine |
2 | tb | Butter |
4 | tb | Brown sugar |
3 | tb | Lemon juice |
1 | tb | Dry mustard |
2 | tb | Worcestershire sauce |
1 | ts | Ginger, ground |
1 | | Lemon, rind only |
8 | oz | Tomato sauce |
1 | ts | Thyme leaves, dried |
Saute the onions in butter in a large saucepan over low heat until soft but
not brown. Stir from time to time. Add brown sugar, lemon juice, mustard,
Worcestershire Sauce and ginger to the pan. Grate the lemon rind into the
pan and add the tomato sauce. Bring to a boil and simmer over low to medium
heat until the sauce thickens (about 15 minutes). Add the thyme leaves and
simmer one more minute. KEEPS WELL COVERED IN THE REFRIGERATOR. YOU MAY ADD
