1/4 | c | Hot water |
1 | | Egg yolk,well beaten |
1/2 | ts | Cinnamon |
1/2 | c | Brown sugar |
1/2 | ts | Salt |
1/2 | ts | Baking soda |
1/2 | c | Molasses |
3/4 | c | Flour |
1/8 | ts | Each: mace,ginger,cloves |
2 | tb | Shortening,melted |
Line 9" pie plate with pastry;chill.Dissolve soda and water; beat into
molasses.Blend in egg yolk;pour into pie crust.Combine remaining
ingredients to make crumbs.Sprinkle over pie.Bake in preheated 400 degree
oven for about 10 minutes or until crust begins to brown.Reduce temperature
to 325 degrees;bake until top is firm.
