1 1/2 | lb | Stew meat |
1 | | Head of cabbage chopped |
1 | | Onion chopped |
3 | | Carrots sliced 1/4" thick |
3 | tb | Barley |
1 | c | Stewed tomatos chopped |
2 | ts | Red pepper flakes |
1 | | Garlic clove minced |
1 | ts | Salt |
1 | ts | Black pepper |
1 | tb | Maggi sauce |
2 | | Potatos diced |
1 | ts | Cider vinegar |
1/2 | c | Beets chopped |
1 | qt | Water |
1 | tb | Tabasco sauce* |
* Optional ingredient Put the water into a large, heavy pot and bring to a
slow boil. Add the Maggi sauce, salt, black pepper, vinegar, onions, marrow
bones, and barley. Cook for 10 minutes then add the stew meat, cabbage,
carrots, beets, tomatos, potatos, red pepper flakes, and garlic. Cover and
