Title: Potatoes with Poppy Seeds

6 | sm | Firm potatoes |
6 | tb | Oil |
3 | Whole red chiles | |
1/2 | c | White poppy seeds, ground |
1/2 | ts | Turmeric |
1/4 | ts | Cayenne |
1 | ts | Salt |
3 | Fresh hot green chiles |
Peel & dice potatoes.
Heat oil in a non-stick skillet. When hot, put in the potatoes & fry till they are golden brown, stirring frequently. When they are golden, remove & set aside.
Put red chiles into the oil, when they darken, add poppy seeds & 2 tb water. Stir & saute until the paste browns. Put in the potatoes, 3/4 c water & the spices. Stir to mix & simmer, covered, for 10 minutes.
