Title: Old Time Beef Stew

2lbStew beef; cubed
1tsWorcestershire sauce
1 Garlic
1mdOnion; sliced
1 1/2 Bay leaf (1 or 2)
1tbSalt
1tsSugar
1/2tsPaprika
1/4tsPepper
1dsCloves or allspice
6 Carrot; quartered
4 Potatoes; quartered
1lbOnion

Brown meat in 2 tlb oil. Add 2 cups hot water and next 9 ingredients. Cover; Simmer 1 1/2hr.stirring occasionally. Remove bay leaves and garlic. Add vegt. Cover and cook for 30 min. Serves 6-8. Gravy: Skim most of fat from liquid; measure 1 3/4 cup. Combine 1/4 cup water and 2 tlb flour till smooth. Stir slowly into hot liquid. Cook and stir till bubbly.
