  Canned Or Fresh Sauerkraut

Drain all liquid from the sauerkraut. Barely cover with boiling water, then cook, uncovered, 30 minutes or longer if desired. Drain. (Serve the drained liquid from the cooking as a juice cocktail.) To the hot sauerkraut, add caraway or celery seeds, or a dash of cloves, and salt, pepper and butter or margarine to taste.
