Title: Soapwort Shampoo
Categories: Info
Yield: 1 Info

Put 2 tablespoons of soapwort, 1 tablespoon chamomile flowers, and 2 teaspoons of borax in a large jar or container made of pottery or chinaware. Pour 2-1/2 cups of boiling water over the herb mixture and cover tightly. Let steep for several days. Shake the container every once in awhile. Strain, discarding the herbs. This will not be as soapy as commercial shampoo, but it's cleansing qualities are undeniable. Add a few sprigs of lavener or lime blossoms before covering to give a natural delicate fragrance. Soapwort is nothing more than wild sweet William, so it's easy to grab a few handfulls to make the shampoo.

Another one that I use alot is just plain old clear dishwashing detergent. To this I add a bit of herbal oils for scenting, and use this. This is excellent for really oily hair. Such as mine. With alot of people wanting things scentless and colorless this is super easy to get. Ivory puts one out now that is just great.

I'm also going to share another secret with you. White vinegar. Heat a bit up before you use it as it's cold as the dickens if you use it right out of the bottle. Shampoo hair as you normally would, but rinse with white vinegar. This will clean out any soap residue, and will leave the scalp stingly and alive feeling. Just watch for dry scalp. If this happens then switch to an apple cider vinegar for a time.

And don't forget to treat your hair to an egg rinse now and again. This really puts the protein into the hair without leaving it a greasy mess. Beat a whole egg till just frothy, and spread this on the scalp and down the hair shaft. Make sure you get all the hair too. This is a real treat for hair. Rinse well with tepid water, so as not to cook the egg in the hair, and follow with an applecider vinegar rinse.
