Refrigerator Pickles

2 1/2 tbs. salt 1 1/2 cup white or cider vinegar 1 1/2 cup sugar 1/2 tsp mustard seed 1/2 tsp celery seed 1/2 tsp tumeric 1/2 gal (2 quarts) thinly sliced cucumbers 1 lg onion sliced

Bring the first six ingredients to a boil, then simmer for about 10 minutes or longer. Place cucumbers and onion into a gallon jar and press down tightly. Pour hot liquid on top, covering all the cucumbers. Cover. Does not need to be vacuum sealed. Cool refrigerate and enjoy.
