We use red [purple?] cabbage and shred it like for coleslaw. Add in chopped onion, and maybe half an apple, finely diced. Marinade is to taste, but we use olive oil white vinegar, [about 2-1 oil/vin], a decent supply of carraway seeds, a little soy sauce, and salt & pepper to taste. Pu it all into a jam jar cap it & shake until it's nicely blended. Apply over cabbage. Toss/mix well.and "nuke" for about 3 minutes. Serve after about 1/2 an hour. Nuking wilts the cabbage & onion as well as enhancing the infusion of the marinade. One other thing about this dish, don't leave the cabbage slices too long. It becomes difficult to handle at the table and this stuff can really stain
