1 | tb | Sugar |
1/2 | lb | Butter/margarine |
2 | | Egg yolks |
5 | tb | Milk |

3 | lb | Apples peeled and sliced |
| | Thin (McIntosh preferred) |
4 | tb | Flour |
1 | c | Sugar |
| | Grated lemon rind or |
| | Few drops lemon juice |
1 | ts | Cinnamon |
1 | | Egg white slightly beaten |
1/2 | c | Chopped walnuts mixed |

To make dough for crust, combine flour, salt and sugar. Cut in
butter/margarine. Combine the egg yolks and milk and mix into dry
ingredients to form dough. Gather into a ball. wrap and chill 1 hour. For
filling, combine apples, flour, sugar, lemon rind or juice and cinnamon.
Roll out half the chilled dough to fit a 10 x 15 inch jelly roll pan. Fill
with apple mixture, making sure all apple slices are pressed down flat.
Roll out remaining dough and cut into strips to lay across apples in
crisscross or lattice fashion. Brush strips with egg white and sprinkle
with sugared nuts. Bake 1 hour, cool and cut into squares. From:
