1 | c | All Purpose Flour |
1 | c | Cake mix * |
1/2 | c | Whole wheat flour |
1 1/4 | c | Water |
3 | tb | Gluten |
3 | tb | Sugar |
2 | tb | Margarine |
2 | tb | Applesauce ** |
10 | ts | Sprinkles *** |
2 | ts | Yeast |
1 | lg | Egg |
* Use white cake mix with or without pudding. I found a box of Pillsbury "Funfetti" cake mix that includes the sprinkles. ** Oil may be substituted. *** I used a box of DecAcake Party Sprinkles that includes four different kinds of sprinkles. I used two teaspoons of each, including the ones with the cake mix. Chat Cat's original recipe used 1/2 cup which is about double this amount. If using this box, use equal amounts of each package to suit.
This makes an excellent dessert bread. It may be served plain, with cream cheese, or frosted.
