A plant that grows in much of the Pacific Northwest, it is also found along roadsides and brushfields. The salmonberry grows from three to twelve feet tall and the leaves are divided into three coarsely toothed leaflets. The flower have five patels, and the flowers are a reddish pink. It has thorns on the stem, and it looks much like a raspberry plant. The berries are a deep red or a more clear orange (the orange berry is said to be tastier). The berries also look like raspberry.
