Title: French Glogg - Glorious Liqueurs

2 | l | Burgundy or other hearty red |
Wine | ||
1 | c | Sugar |
6 | Whole cardamom seeds | |
6 | Whole cloves | |
4 | Cinnamon sticks | |
2 | Oranges, zest of | |
2 | c | Curacao or other orange |
Liqueur | ||
1 | c | Golden raisins |
1/2 | c | Sliced blanched almonds |
Combine wine, sugar, cardamom, cloves, cinnamon and orange zest in a pot and bring to a simmer over low heat until sugar dissolves.
Add the curacao. Heat, then light with a long match.
When the flames subside, pour into a fondue pot over a heat source; add the raisins. For a more casual service, ladle directly from pot set over very low heat.
Ladle the glogg into mugs or heatproof cups, making sure to add a few raisins to each cup. Sprinkle some almonds into each mug as it is served.
