1/4 | pt | Water, tepid |
2 | Egg whites | |
1 | tb | Oil, salad |
1 | pn | Salt |
To make batter: Sift the flour, add salt, put into a basin, make hole in the middle into which put oil, add the water and gradually beat in the flour, add the whites of eggs well beaten, stand at least half hour before using.
To make fritters: Peel and core apples cut in thin slices across, dip in batter with a skewer and drop gently into boiling frying fat, fry a pale brown on both sides, drain and sprinkle castor sugar on the top. from THE EMPIRE COOKERY BOOK published 1940 typed by KEVIN JCJD SYMONS
