Title: Cherry Pecan Torte

6 | x | Eggs; whites only |
1/2 | ts | Cream of tartar |
2 | c | Sugar |
2 | c | Crumbs, saltine |
3/4 | c | Pecans; chopped |
2 | ts | Extract; vanilla |
2 | c | Cream, whipping; whipped |
21 | oz | Pie filling, cherry; 1 can |
In a mixing bowl, beat egg whites until foamy. Beat in cream of tartar. Gradually add the sugar, beating on high until stiff peaks form. Fold in crumbs, pecans, and vanilla. Spread into a greased 13x9x2" baking pan. Bake at 350 degrees for 25 mintues. Cool completely. Spread whipped cream over top. Spoon pie filling over cream. Chill for at least 1 hour.
