		Cherry Winks
1	c	Sugar
3/4	c	Shortening
2		Eggs
2	tb	Milk
1	ts	Vanilla
1	c	Chopped nuts
1	c	Chopped dates
2 1/4	c	Flour
1	ts	Baking powder
1/2	ts	Salt
1/2	ts	Baking soda
		Crushed corn flakes
		Maraschino cherries

Cream shortening and sugar. Add next 5 ingredients. Sift the dry ingredients and add. Form balls the size of a walnut. Roll in crushed corn flakes. Flatten slightly and top with half of a cherry. Bake at 375 for 10 to 12 minutes.
