Title: Chewy Oatmeal/raisin/nut Cookies

3/4cShortening; * see note
1 1/4cBrown sugar, packed
1 Egg
1/3cMilk
1cRaisins
1cWalnuts; chopped
1 1/2tsVanilla extract
3cOats; * see note
1cAll-purpose flour
1/2tsBaking soda
1/2tsSalt
1/4tsGround cinnamon

Recipe by: Jo Merrill * recipe calls for butter flavor Crisco shortening. * use quick cooking oats only-not instant or the old-fashioned kinds.

Preheat oven to 375 degrees. Grease baking sheet with Crisco. Combine shortening, brown sugar, egg, milk and vanilla in a large bowl. Beat at medium speed of electric mixer until well blended. Combine oats, flour, baking soda, salt and cinnamon. Mix into the creamed mixture at low speed until blended. Stir in raisins and nuts. Drop rounded tablespoonfuls of dough onto prepared baking sheets 2 inches apart. Bake 10-12 minutes or until lightly browned. Cool 2 minutes on pan then remove to a rack to cool completely.
