2 | c | Flour, plain |
1 | c | Sugar, brown |
1 | c | Milk |
4 | oz | Butter -OR- |
4 | oz | Dripping -OR- |
1 | Egg | |
1 | ts | Mixed spice |
1 | ts | Bicarbonate of soda |
1 | tb | Treacle |
2 | oz | Lemon peel |
1 | c | Mixed fruit |
Cream the butter and sugar. Add egg. Then add milk and sifted flour, carb soda and spice.
Bake for one hour or a little longer if needed. Temperature 250-275^F.
