2	c	Flour, plain
1	c	Sugar, brown
1	c	Milk
4	oz	Butter -OR-
4	oz	Dripping -OR-
1		Egg
1	ts	Mixed spice
1	ts	Bicarbonate of soda
1	tb	Treacle
2	oz	Lemon peel
1	c	Mixed fruit

Cream the butter and sugar. Add egg. Then add milk and sifted flour, carb soda and spice.

Bake for one hour or a little longer if needed. Temperature 250-275^F.
