6	oz	Sugar
12	oz	Flour, self-raising
6	oz	Dates, stoned
1	c	Milk
		Lemon essence

		Chocolate icing
		Dates, stoned, halved.

Beat butter and sugar to a cream, add eggs well beaten, dates cut up, and milk, add flour well sifted, stir in well. Bake in a greased tin or tins about 40 minutes. When cold ice with a chocolate icing, placing halved dates on the top.
