Title: Dave's Everglades Heat Snack Mix
Categories: Snack
Yield: 1 Batch
1/2 | c | Butter |
2 | tb | Worcestershire sauce |
1 | tb | Everglades Heat |
8 | c | Dry breakfast cereal; see note |
2 | c | Dry-roasted peanuts |
2 | c | Pretzel sticks |
Put the butter, Worcestershire sauce, and Everglades Heat seasoning in a large roasting pan, and put the pan in a preheated 250 F oven until the butter is melted.
Stir to mix the seasoning with the butter and Worcestershire, then add cereal, peanuts, and pretzels, stirring and tossing well to coat.
Bake at 250 F for an hour, stirring well every 15 minutes or so, until toasted lightly brown.
Notes:
My favorite cereals for making snack mix is Corn Chex and Rice Chex, but you can use any combination of unsweetened cereals. Cheerios are a favorite in my house.
A tablespoon of Heat may be too salty for some people. Add an extra cup of cereal to "dilute" the salt if you like.
For my second batch, I used half Worcestershire and half good Soy Sauce. A nice change, and the flavors work well together.
