Title: Double Frosted Cake Brownies

5 | Sqrs unsweetened chocolate | |
1/2 | c | Butter or margarine |
2 | Eggs | |
1 | c | Sugar |
1/2 | c | All-purpose flour |
1/4 | ts | Salt |
1 | ts | Vanilla extract |
1/2 | c | Chopped nuts |
FROSTING | ||
1 1/2 | c | Sugar |
1/3 | c | Butter or margarine |
1/2 | c | Medium cream |
1 | ts | Vanilla extract |
Brownies: Preheat oven to 350xF. Melt 2 squares chocolate with the butter. Beat eggs, add sugar and mix well. Stir in chocolate mixture. Mix flour and salt, and blend into first mixture. Add vanilla and nuts and spread in buttered 11"x7"x1 1/2" baking pan. Bake 20-25 minutes. Cool in pan, then top with frosting. Melt remaining chocolate and spread on frosting. Put in refrigerator to set. When firm, cut in small squares.
Frosting: Put first three ingredients in heavy saucepan. Bring to boil and cook to 236xF on candy thermometer, or until a small amount of mixture forms a soft ball when dropped in very cold water. Set in pan of cold water until cool. Add vanilla and beat until creamy and of spreading consistency.
