4	c	Shortening
4	c	Honey
2	ts	Lemon extract or pure juice
8	c	Flour, sifted
4	ts	Cinnamon
4	c	Raisins, chopped
		Dissolved/water
4	c	Sugar
4		Eggs, well beaten
2	c	Warm water
4	ts	Salt
6	c	Nuts, chopped
8	ts	Baking soda,
2	ts	Vanilla extract

Mix shortening and sugar well, add honey and eggs; blend until smooth. Then add the lemon. Now alternate the remaining ingredients until cookie dough is stiff. Roll cookie dough onto cookie sheet and cut with cookie cutters. Bake in moderate oven, 350 - 375F for 10-15 minutes, or until lightly browned. (This is a double recipe. According to the book, Laura Gasser used to make these a month before Christmas. They get to tasting better
