4 1/2	c	Flour
3 1/2	ts	Baking powder
1	ts	Salt
1/4	ts	Nutmeg
1/4	ts	Cinnamon
3		Eggs
1	ts	Vanilla
3/4	c	Sugar
3	tb	Butter; softened
3/4	c	Milk

Sift flour, salt, spice and baking powder. Beat eggs and sugar. Add vanilla, melted shortening, milk, and dry ingredients. Make a soft dough and roll to 1/3 inch thick. Cut as for doughnuts and drop into hot oil. Serve plain or roll in confectioners sugar.
