Title: Toasted Hazelnut Cake with Chocolate Glaze

Cake: | ||
1 1/3 | c | Ground hazelnuts |
1/2 | c | Butter |
3 | Eggs | |
1 1/2 | c | Sugar |
1 | ts | Vanilla |
2 | c | All-purpose flour |
2 | ts | Baking powder |
1/4 | ts | Salt |
Glaze: | ||
1/2 | c | Whipping cream |
6 | oz | Package semisweet chocolate |
Chips | ||
1 | ts | Vanilla extract |
Whole hazelnuts for garnish |
Cake: Preheat oven to 350. Grease bottom of 10 inch springform pan. Set aside 1 tablespoon hazelnuts for garnish. Melt butter in saucepan over low heat. Cool somewhat. Beat eggs, sugar and vanilla in a large bowl until thick and lemon-colored. To eggs, add flour, baking powder, salt and hazelnuts. Mix well. Beat with mixer on medium speed, slowly adding melted butter. Spread batter into prepared pan. Bake 35-45 minutes or until toothpick inserted into center comes out clean. Cool 15 minutes. Remove side of pan. Loosen cake from bottom of pan. Invert onto a serving plate. Set aside loosely covered with a kitchen towel. Cool 1/2 hour. Glaze: Bring cream just to a boil in saucepan. Remove from heat. Stir in chocolate chips until melted and smooth. Add vanilla and stir well. Spread glaze over top of cake, letting some run down sides. Sprinkle reserved ground nuts around top edge of cake. Arrange whole hazelnuts around edge
