Title: Pine Soap

Yield: 1 1/2 lb
2 | c | Freshly gathered pine needles |
1 | c | Water |
1 1/2 | c | Clean rendered tallow |
1/2 | c | Vegetable oil |
1/4 | c | Cold water |
1/4 | c | Lye flakes |
Cut needles into pieces and boil 5 minutes in 1 c water. Steep 10 minutes and strain. You should have pine-scented water.
Melt tallow and vegetable oil. Set aside to cool. Add lye to water, stirring to dissolve. Cool.
When fat and lye are lukewarm, pour lye into fat, stirring constantly. When beginning to thicken, add pine water and stir until thick and creamy. Pour into molds.
