Categories: Soap *
Yield: 1 Batch

FATS AND OILS
  100øF
LYE SOLUTION
  85øF
INGREDIENTS
6 3/8ozGoat's milk
12 3/4ozDistilled water
218gSodium hydroxide
15ozOlive oil*
1lbCoconut oil
8ozVegetable shortening
15ozPalm oil
2ozLanolin
1ozBeeswax
4 Egg yolks, at room temperature
1/4cDried oatmeal (not instant)
2tbGround bee propolis, optional
12gGrapefruit seed extract, optional
7tsPure essential oil or fragrance oil, optional

*Remove 1 cup of olive oil and set aside.

It is recommended that this recipe be made in a freestanding mixer for a smoother grain, but this is optional.

In a coffee grinder, powder the oatmal and the bee propolis into a fairly fine powder.

Add the sodium hydroxide to the water, whisking vigorously and continuously until the sodium hydroxide is completely dissolved. Allow to cool to 85øF.

Melt the beeswax along with the coconut oil, vegetable shortening, palm oil, and lanolin. Then add the oilive oil (the original volume minus the removed portion) to the melted fats.

When the desired soapmaking temperatures are reached, warm the 1 cup of reserved olive oil to 85øF, then add the egg yolks, whisking forcefully to blend well. Heat the milk gently to 80øF. Drizzle the milk into the 85øF lye solution, whisking briskly and constantly using a stainless steel whisk. Immediately add the lye/milk mixture to the 100øF fats and oils, beating briskly.

After 1 to 2 minutes of blending, drizzle in the well-blended egg/olive oil mixture, stirring briskly the entire time to prevent the egg yolks from curdling. At the trace, add the oatmat/propolis mixture.
