8 | lb | Sugar |
1/2 | lb | Bitter chocolate |
3 | lb | Evaporated milk |
1 | c | Water |
1/2 | c | Butter |
4 | ts | Vanilla |
2 | ga | Freshly popped corn |
Mix sugar, chocolate, evaporated milk, water and butter in saucepan. Cook slowly, stirring until sugar is dissolved. Boil until the mixture will form a firm ball when tested in cold water, 248 degrees. Remove from fire, add vanilla and pour over the corn while hot, stirring until all the kernels are chocolate covered. Let stand until cold.
