7 | lb | Cucumbers -- cut in thin |

Õ6 lb. sugar 1 qt. vinegar 1 qt. water 1/2 (2 1/2 oz.) box pickling spices Õ Dissolve lime in water to cover the cucumbers and soak for 12 hours. Next morning, drain and wash. Soak 4 hours in salt brine, using 3 pounds of salt. Drain and wash. Soak for 2 hours in clear water. Bring to a boil in alum water, using 10 cent box of alum. Drain and let stand in clear water for 30 minutes.
Simmer in syrup for 30 minutes and let stand overnight in syrup. Next morning, can and seal.
