Title: Smoky Sausage Chili

1 | lb | Ground beef |
1 | lg | Onion; coarsely chopped |
2 | ts | Chili powder |
2 | ts | Ground cumin |
1/2 | lb | Smoked sausage or kielbasa; sliced 1/4", each slice halved |
1 | cn | 16-oz. kidney beans; drained |
1 | c | Picante sauce, or salsa |
1 | c | Vegetable juice cocktail |
1 | cn | 8-oz. tomato sauce |
OPTIONAL TOPPINGS | ||
Sour cream | ||
Cheddar cheese; shredded | ||
Avocado; diced |
Brown ground beef with onion in large saucepan or Dutch oven. Sprinkle chili powder and cumin over meat; cook and stir 1 minute. Add remaining ingredients, except optional toppings; bring to a boil. Reduce heat; simmer uncovered 20 minutes, stirring occasionally. Ladle into bowls; top as desired and serve. Makes 6 servings, about 7 cups.
