1/4 | c | Margarine or butter |
1/2 | c | Sugar |
3 | | Eggs |
1 | ts | Vanilla |

The sugar sprinkled on top of the French bread gives this dessert a. Heat
oven to 350 degrees. Grease square baking dish, 8 X 8 X 2 inches. Sprinkle
bread pieces and figs evenly in dish. Heat milk, whipping cream and
margarine over medium heat until margarine is melted and milk is hot. Beat
1/2 cup sugar, the eggs and vanilla in 4-cup measure or medium bowl. Stir
in milk mixture. Pour over bread pieces and figs. Sprinkle with 2
tablespoons sugar. Place dish in pan of very hot water (1 inch deep).Bake
40 to 45 minutes or until knife inserted 1 inch from edge comes out clean.
Serve warm with Sweetened Whipped Cream, if desired. 9 SERVINGS; 315
