1 | sm | Onion; chopped |
1 1/2 | tb | Brown sugar |
1/2 | c | Ketchup |

Saute onions in margarine. Add brown sugar, ketchup and water and cook for about 5 minutes.
Cut wieners or turkey franks into 1-inch chunks. Now take the wieners and the sauerkraut which has first been drained and rinsed in a colander under the faucet and add it to the sauce along with the wieners. Cover and cook on top of stove, low heat, for about 30 minutes.

Young MARY ANN'S NOTES: This is a good substantial sort of dish that you can
throw together fast, since the ingredients are things that we can keep as
staples and serve on a moment's notice. Anyway, it sure beats the usual
humdrum recipes that we come up with. It has a nice mellow blend of
flavoring, not at all sour, ketchupy or extra spicy like the name would
suggest. My mouth is watering just thinking about this dish and we'll
certainly have it on the menu again soon. (Why, John doesn't even have to
take Maalox afterwards.) :-)
Also, I have halved this recipe since we're a small family. If you wish to
serve 6 instead of 3, the ingredients would be doubled except for the
ketchup and water, of which you would use 2/3 cup each. From:
