1 1/2 | c | Boiling water |
4 | tb | Unflavored gelatin |
1 | c | Cold water |
| | Red and green food coloring |
1/2 | ts | Peppermint extract |
1 | ts | Cinnamon extract |
Heat sugar, salt, and 1 1/2 cups boiling water to boiling point. Meanwhile,
pour 1 cup cold water over gelatin. Add to hot syrup and stir until
dissolved. Boil slowly 15 minutes. Take from fire and divide into 2 equal
parts. Color 1/2 red and flavor with peppermint extract. Color the other
1/2 green and flavor with cinnamon extract. Pour into two 4x8" pans. Let
stand overnight, or at least 12 hours. Turn out on granulated sugar and cut
into squares with wet, sharp knife. Roll in sugar.
