Title: Lithuanian Honey Bread a la Beth

1 | tb | Yeast |
1/2 | c | Water (95 to 105 deg) |
1/2 | c | Honey |
1 | tb | Coriander |
1/2 | ts | Cinnamon |
1/4 | ts | Ground cloves |
1 1/4 | ts | Salt |
1 | Egg | |
4 | tb | Melted butter, cooled |
1 | c | Milk, scalded and cooled |
4 1/4 | c | Flour |
Dissolve yeast in water; let stand. Mix egg, honey, spices and salt in deep bowl. Add milk and butter; mix. Add yeast. Gradually stir in flour; knead. Allow to rise until double in greased bowl; knead again for 1 1/2 to 2 minutes. Shape into round loaf (bakes well in round casserole, metal bowl or cookie sheet). Brush with melted butter. Let rise until almost double. Bake at 300 degrees for 1 plus hours, until it sounds hollow when tapped on top and is a gorgeous brown.
