1 | lg | Egg |
1/4 | c | Onion; finely chopped |
1/4 | c | Green bell pepper; finely chopped |
3 | tb | Catsup |
1/4 | c | Saltines, crushed fine |
1 1/2 | ts | Worcestershire sauce |
3/4 | ts | Salt |
1 | lb | Ground chuck; not too lean |
2 | sl | Bacon, halved crosswise |
Preheat oven to 400 degrees F. In a bowl, whisk together the egg, the
onion, the bell pepper, 2 tablespoons of the catsup, the saltines, the
Worcestershire sauce, the salt and pepper, add the ground beef and blend
with your hands until it is just combined. Don't overmix. Form the mixture
into an 8"x4" loaf in a shallow baking pan, spread the remaining tablespoon
of catsup over it, drape the bacon pieces across the loaf. Bake in the
middle of the oven for 30 minutes.
