1 | lb | Dried pinto beans |
6 | c | Cold water |
1/2 | lb | Salt pork -- cut up |
1 | lb | Lean chuck steak -- cut into |
1 | " cubes | |
1 | Red chili peppers or.... | |
1/2 | ts | Crushed red pepper |
1 | Medium onions -- chopped | |
2 | Cloves garlic -- minced | |
6 | oz | Tomato paste |
1 1/2 | tb | Chili powder |
1 | ts | Salt |
1 | ts | Cumin seed |
1/2 | ts | Marjoram |
Soak beans in water overnight. Brown salt pork in skillet or slow-cooking pot with browning unit. In slow-cooking pot, combine soaked beans (with water), browned pork, and remaining ingredients. Cover and cook on low for 9 to 10 hours.
